Well, here I am, sitting at my keyboard, actively avoiding writing my book. Such is the life of an author.
I WILL get the book finished. I want to, after all. I just need to make the time.
Speaking of making the time, if you've seen my website before May 30th, 2026, you'll notice it looks a little different now. I switched hosts from SquareSpace to Webador, and I'm finding it easier to navigate, more user-friendly, and cheaper!
I haven't posted for a minute because, as I'm sure is the case for you as well, life is life-ing. HOWEVER, there have been many new developments that have been helpful for me with life as it does its shit.
My Books
First, I have finished the second book of the Ancient Wonders series! Yay! It's with my publisher now, and we have a Backerkit going for the second half of the year (you can find it here).
I'm also still working on a sequel to Avoiding Aiden, which I hope to get out this year. It's just a matter of taking the time to get it done.
Finally, I'm continuing to figure out just how I'm going to publish or create the books in my YA fantasy series. I've done SO MUCH worldbuilding and background work, it would be a genuine travesty if it wasn't somehow put out into the universe. I'm considering books and all the options there, but also TV, film, and even video games! We'll see how it works out.
Where I'll be with my Books
I'll be in Eau Claire, Wisconsin for the Booked Eau Claire event, the second ever (you can find it here)! I'm so excited about attending again, and I think it will be absolutely wonderful to see some of the friends I made last year, and meet new friends this year!
Otherwise, no official plans coming up after being in Wisconsin in September for the rest of the year, but I'm always on the lookout for opportunities.
I will be at Storymakers in Provo, UT in May 2027, and I also have tickets to Life, The Universe, and Everything Symposium in February at the same Provo location as well. That will be my first year attending, so I'm excited to see what it's all about!
My Job-job
As a full-time licensed counselor, I haven't updated since I gained my clinical license. I'm now an LCPC in Idaho, and am looking at licensure in Utah as well (for reasons below). I'm also working at a new job, specifically working with people with addictions and in recovery. It's hard work, but I think it's absolutely worth it. Some of the people I meet are just the most genuine and authentic people really struggling with how they fit into the world.
It's important work, and I'm grateful for the job.
Me in General
First, I'm in a relationship! Woohoo! This also means I'm getting to come out. Again. *stands proudly, hand over heart* My name is Chris Cole, and I am polyamorous. *continues standing, looking out at everybody blinking* Okay. So. This is new for me, and something it's taken me a minute to discover.
Have you ever been in a relationship where you felt like you had more to share, and while you absolutely loved (and still love) the person you were with, there was something missing? Besides the issues I worked through with my divorce, I've now realized that, as I sit typing this with my partners nearby, I have always been polyamorous, and just didn't know how to express it for myself.
We've been dating a very short time, and while we're continuing to explore this relationship that's new to all three of us, it's important to me that I am honest. If anybody asks, I'll tell you all about them. They're fantastic guys. I am very grateful we found each other, and the feeling is mutual.
The biggest hurdle we have to overcome, in my eyes, is the distance between us. They currently live an hour and a half away from me, in Utah, and are planning a move within the next year. So... So am I! I'm equally nervous and excited about what the future holds, but I see it filled with a lot of love, laughter, and cuddle puddles.
Then, in October, I will be seeing Sara Bareilles for the first time ever LIVE in Seattle. I'm so excited I can't even put it into words! I've been a fan of hers for a long time, and absolutely love the heart and soul she puts into her music. So that will be a wonderful experience.
That's all I've got for now! See ya next time!
